I went for a positive representation - Lady Liberty as the hand - showing that everyone deserves hope and freedom. To signify drag without excluding certain types, I put a hand coming out of a high heel with lipstick. “I wanted to create something that welcomes them,” said Wayne, “so I thought of a roadside scene to represent searching for acceptance. In explaining the artwork, Wayne said that he focused on the fact Palm Springs is a safe place for the LGBTQ+ community. I have many friends who are professional drag queens, and I want to show my support.” “Following last year’s ‘Say Gay’ theme, I’m glad that Pride is addressing this issue.
